Raised in the British choral tradition, Andrew McAnerney is a versatile and accomplished conductor, singer, and educator. Andrew studied music at the University of Oxford (Magdalen College) and built his career performing with many of Europe’s finest vocal ensembles including the world renowned Tallis Scholars.

Andrew is the Artistic Director of Le Studio de musique ancienne de Montréal (SMAM), The Cantata Singers of Ottawa (CSO) and Director of the Men & Boys choir at Christ Church Cathedral Ottawa. Andrew has toured extensively and guest directed a wide variety of Canadian choirs and orchestras including the National Arts Centre Orchestra, Arion Baroque Orchestra, and Elora Singers.

His work with SMAM has been nominated for the Juno Award 2022 and Prix Opus in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. His first CD with SMAM, Orlando di Lasso: Laudate Dominum (ATMA), received critical acclaim from around the world (rated **** Le Devoir).
